Run3D Assessment Pathway

Reason for Visit

Your clinician will take a history to understand your current and previous injuries, and your running goals.

Next, your clinician will attach 39 reflective markers to  your legs and shoes, positioned on specific anatomical landmarks.

Run3D uses exactly the same technology as specialist orthopaedic hospitals and elite sports performance centres.

The 3D motion capture cameras measure the positions of the reflective markers 200 times a second. The data is used to calculate exactly how your pelvis, hips, knees and ankles are moving as you walk and run, enabling us to identify any abnormal gait patterns, imbalances or inefficiencies in your movement, leading to individualised treatment plans.

3D Gait Analysis

Your clinician will ask you to warm-up on the treadmill for as long as you need, and when you are ready we will start collecting data.

Run3D's advanced technology captures real-time measurements of your movement patterns, enabling your clinician to immediately identify any asymmetries or abnormal patterns in your gait. Using Run3D, your clinician can see degrees of movement that cannot be seen by the naked eye.

During the assessment, your clinician may capture tests at different running speeds, or with different footwear, tailoring the process to your specific needs. If appropriate, they may provide gait re-education to help improve abnormal movement patterns.

Individualised care is always at the forefront of our approach, and your clinician will prioritise what is most appropriate for your unique case.‍

Musculoskeletal Testing

After your gait analysis, your clinician will carry-out a comprehensive set of objective clinical tests to precisely measure your strength, range of motion, alignment, and neuromuscular control.

These tests provide us with valuable data and complete our understanding of your movement patterns. By combining the results of these musculoskeletal tests with the detailed analysis of your gait, we gain thorough insight of how your body is moving and why it may be moving in this particular way.

The data we have collected serves as the foundation of your individualised treatment program. We use the results to guide our decisions, pinpointing areas that require attention and developing targeted strategies to enhance your biomechanical function.

Report Review

Our expert clinician will review your report with you, piecing together all the information to gain a comprehensive understanding of your body's mechanics and using the data to create an individualised plan based on your results.

With the powerful insights provided by Run3D, we can identify the root cause of your injury, which lays the foundations for an effective and sustainable rehabilitation plan.

If you're an athlete aiming for peak performance or someone seeking to improve your running gait, your clinician will use the results to provide you with individualised recommendations and strategies to address any imbalances or abnormalities and improve efficiency.

We empower you with the information you need to optimise your movement.

Treatment & Recovery

The results of your assessment will be used to provide a data-driven treatment and rehabilitation programme. This might include strength and conditioning, home exercises, physiotherapy, footwear/orthotic recommendations, gait re-education or referral to another practitioner.

Our objective is to resolve your injuries and help you achieve your goals effectively. By combining the expertise of our clinicians with the insights gained from your Run3D assessment, we can build a comprehensive roadmap that guides your rehabilitation journey towards successful outcomes.

Your Run3D assessment marks the beginning of your recovery journey.

Trust the process and in our commitment to you as we work together to restore your musculoskeletal health.
